System Information

System Info gives fixed, tested listings for the standard BusinessObjects administration questions: inventory, users, groups, logons, reports, usage, data sources, report contents, schedules, instances, folder security, audit and servers.

What it answers

Each listing states its question at the top. Examples:

  • What is in each environment, and when did each object type last change?
  • Which accounts never logged on, and what would be orphaned if they were removed?
  • Which reports were created or changed between two dates, and by whom?
  • Which reports use free-hand SQL, on which connection?
  • Who receives what from every schedule?
  • Which users and groups hold which access level on each folder?

Open it

In the BusinessObjects console, select System Info. Each theme is a tab; inside a tab a segmented control picks the listing.

Filters

The page header has only the environment buttons. Each listing adds the filters it needs:

Filter Effect
Search box Free-text filter on the listing's main column (the placeholder says what it searches). Some listings add a second search box.
Folder path "Folder path starts with", with suggestions.
Date window Presets 30, 60, 90, 180, 365 days, or from / to dates (local time; start inclusive, end exclusive).
People + service accounts / People only Hides the service accounts named under How this list is built.
Chips Listing-specific choices, such as object kind, status or authentication type.
Page size 100 or 500 rows per page, with paging.

How this list is built opens a sheet with the question, the filters in effect, constants, how current the data is, and the SQL behind the list.

Data freshness

Listings read what MetaMiner last pulled from each environment. Data as of on the Overview tab shows, per environment, the latest captured change of each kind; an environment with auditing off says no audit data (auditing off). Times on this page are in your local time; MetaMiner stores them in UTC and converts the window exactly.

Export

Every listing has Excel and CSV export of the full filtered list, and the SQL is available under How this list is built. See Insights Dashboards.
