Common Controls¶
The shared building blocks every Insights page uses: the filter bar, the environment coverage strip, the service-account list and the object cards that open from any name.
Common has no menu entry of its own. Read this page once to understand the parts that look the same on Estate X-Ray, Blast Radius, Job Floor, Upgrade Readiness, Security & Exposure, Sessions & Usage, System Info and Publications.

What it answers¶
- Which environments am I looking at, and how much audit history does each one have?
- Which logins count as service accounts rather than people?
- What is this report, universe, connection, user, group or folder, and what is connected to it?
Filter bar¶
The filter bar sits at the top right of each Insights page. Pages show only the controls that apply to them; see each dashboard page for its exact set.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Environment buttons | One button per BusinessObjects environment, labelled with its short code. Click to include or exclude it. No button selected means all environments. |
Window (30d, 90d, 180d, 365d) |
The number of days of audit and job history the page counts. Default 90 days. Job Floor adds 1d and 7d; Publications and System Info use their own windows. |
| People + service accounts / People only | Shows the current mode. Click to switch between counting every account and counting people only. |
All filters are written into the page address, so a link you copy opens the same view for a colleague.
Coverage strip¶
Under the filter bar, one entry per selected environment shows the number of reports, the audit date range, how many people and service accounts appear in audit, and how long ago the last scheduled job succeeded. An environment without audit data says no audit data: its usage figures are unknown, not zero.
Service accounts¶
A service account is a login that runs automated work rather than a person. The console treats these as service accounts:
- The login MetaMiner itself uses on each environment.
- Every login listed in Service accounts: on the MetaMiner Administrator (MMA) Settings > Web Apps page.
Changes to that list apply on the next page load; no restart is needed. See Web Apps settings.
Internal mail domains¶
Pages that flag e-mail to outside addresses (Job Floor, Publications) compare recipients with Internal mail domains: on the same MMA page. Subdomains count as internal. When the list is empty, internal and external are not shown, and those tiles say Not configured.
Object cards¶
Click any underlined name in a grid, chart or tile to open a card in a side drawer. Links inside a card open the next card; Back returns to the previous one.
| Card | Tabs | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Report or document | Overview, Lineage, Who uses it, Schedules | People and service-account uses in the window, last person use, schedules and failed runs, daily use chart, owner, folder, size, last error, parse error. Open in BI launch pad when the environment has a launch pad address. Lineage lists universes, connections and database types. |
| Universe | Overview, Documents | Documents on it, type, folder, connections, owner; the documents with people and service uses. |
| Connection | Overview, Universes | Universes and documents that use it, database type, network layer, owner. |
| User | Overview, Owned content | Owned documents and schedules, audit events in the window, last logon, e-mail, enabled state, named or concurrent licence. |
| Group | Overview, Members, Parent groups, Folder access | Direct and nested users, subgroups, mapped authentication, every folder security entry for the group. |
| Folder | Overview, Security entries, Who can see | Objects, instances and subfolders, security entries (explicit and inherited), inheritance state, when security was captured, and the role-based list of users who can view the folder. |

SQL and export¶
Most panels carry an SQL button and grids carry Excel and CSV buttons. They work the same on every page; see Insights Dashboards.
