MetaMiner terms¶
- MetaMiner Server (MMS)
- The Windows service
metaminer. It pulls metadata from BusinessObjects, stores it in the MetaMiner Database and serves the MetaMiner Client and the Web Console on one port (default49714). - MetaMiner Client (MMC)
- The Windows desktop application users run to explore, compare, back up and change BusinessObjects content.
- MetaMiner Administrator (MMA)
- The desktop application on the server machine used to configure environments, settings, security and the services, and to start and stop the MMS.

- Initial pull
- The first pull of a new environment, which reads every object. It takes longer than later pulls.
- Deep processing
- The part of a pull that opens Web Intelligence documents, universes and Crystal reports to read their inner structure: queries, SQL, objects, joins and report elements.
- On-demand pull
- A pull cycle started by hand with Force On Demand Pull... in the MMC instead of waiting for the schedule.
- Pull exclusion window
- A time range in which MetaMiner does not pull an environment, for example during BusinessObjects maintenance.
- Data type
- A category of BusinessObjects content that MetaMiner pulls and stores separately, such as documents, users, universes or Web Intelligence documents. Data type names are used in pull inclusion and exclusion settings.
- Snapshot
- The in-memory picture of an environment that the MMS sends to each MMC. The MMC shows "Processing snapshot..." while it loads one.
- Meta Query
- SQL queries against the MMDB, run from the MMC or the Web Console. Executed by the MetaQuery agent process.
- Visual Diff
- Side-by-side comparison of two objects or two versions of an object in the MMC.

- The
.licfile that sets the edition and features of an installation.
