Quickstart¶
Install MetaMiner on one Windows server, connect one BusinessObjects environment, and browse it in the CMS Explorer.
What you will build: a single-host installation with the embedded MetaMiner Database, one enabled BusinessObjects environment, and the MetaMiner Client connected to it.
Time: about 30 minutes of work, plus the first pull, which depends on the size of your CMS (estimate).
You need:
- A 64-bit Windows Server host where you are a local administrator.
- The full installer
MetaMiner-ENTERPRISE-windows-x64-5.2.<build>.exeand a license file. - The CMS host name and a BusinessObjects account in the Administrators group, for example
MetaMinerAdmin. - Network access from the host to the CMS.
1. Install¶
- Right-click the installer, choose Run as administrator, and accept the defaults: folder
C:\Program Files\Infolytik\MetaMiner, components MetaMiner Server and MetaMiner Client. - On the last screen, select Run MetaMiner Admin and click Finish.

- Start MetaMiner from the Start menu.
- In the Connection Manager, enter

What you learned¶
- The full installer installs the server, administrator and client, and registers the services without starting them.
- The MetaMiner Administrator holds the license, the database choice and the environment list, and starts the server.
- The server logs pull stages in
slc.log; Initial Pull Done means the environment is ready. - The client connects to the server on port 49714 and loads the environments you select.
Next steps¶
- Verify the First Pull - checks beyond the CMS Explorer.
- Audit and CMS Databases - add usage history.
- Install the Client - put the client on user workstations.
- Hardening Checklist - before you open the server to users.
