Users and Groups

The Users tab shows the users, user groups and aliases of every loaded BusinessObjects environment and lets you administer them in bulk.

License and permission

  • The Users tab is shown with the CMS Explorer when your license includes the BusinessObjects client features and at least one BusinessObjects environment is loaded. See Editions and Licensing.
  • Each action needs its own permission on the environment (MetaMiner Administrator role settings): Add User to Group, Remove User from Group, Enable User, Disable User, Reset user password, Change User License Type, Kill Sessions, Send Email, Modify User Group Assignments, Import Users from Excel, Modify User Aliases, Modify Description, Explore Security, Export, Delete, Save As BIAR Backup. See Permissions Reference.
  • User activity history needs the environment's audit database to be configured and a license that includes audit data.

How it works

The tree has one node per environment. Under it are the user groups with their members, and users with their aliases. The data comes from the last pull; actions you run are written to the BI platform by the MetaMiner Server with the environment's service account.

Column Shows
Name User, group or alias name (or display name, see Preferences and Shortcuts)
Created When the user or group was created
Last Logon Last logon time of the user
Email User e-mail address
Sessions Number of active sessions of the user

Filter the tree

Open the filter pane with View > Filter Pane (Ctrl+E). Filters combine; Reset all filters clears them.

Filter section Options
Users / User Groups Pick users or groups by name; Show groups only, Hide empty groups, Show empty groups only, Show marked group only
Disabled Users Hide disabled users, Show disabled users only
Invalid Users/User Groups Hide invalid users/groups, Show invalid users/groups only
User License Type Show named license only, Show concurrent license only
User Creation Time / Last Logon Time / Recent Updates Date ranges
Email Filter by email:
Aliases Show only users with: an alias type, Strict match, Show disabled
Sessions Show active user sessions only

To limit the tree to one group, right-click it and choose Show This Group Only. To limit it to one user, right-click and choose Filter Out Other Users. See Filters and Search for the quick search box.
