[MM-U01] Universe Dictionary

Purpose

The purpose of this report is to fully describe (as practically possible) selected universes with respect to: * Summary Information * Objects * Joins * Contexts * Tables * Restrictions

Usage

It is recommended that this report be refreshed non-interactively. Schedule the report, with the required Prompt Values, for later analysis (interactive via Input Controls) once the report instance has been sucessfully refreshed.

This recommendation has two benefits: * By doing so a document usage count, for each object defined for each of the universe(s) being analysed, will be recorded in the generated instance. * Refresh wait time is accommodated, which can be significant, due to the fact that (amongst other things) this report generates SQL to retrieve a count for all reports using each object for each of the analysed universe(s).

Prompts

Prompt_Example

Environments -> {Universes} | {Objects}
Environments

This optional multi-select prompt (featuring in all MMSRL reports) is often used as the parent of a cascading set of subsequent prompts. The LOV will list the CMSIDs of all available Environments. The prompt return value is CMSID, but the more descriptive Environment description along with whether the Environment supports "Enhanced IA" is also detailed in the LOV entries.

Universes

This optional multi-select prompt (featuring in "universe based" MMSRL reports) allows the user to restrict the report to the selected Universes. The LOV will list all Universes available in the Environments selected in the prompt above. Its LOV cascades from the Environments prompt so if no Environments are selected in that prompt then no LOV entries will be listed.

Objects

This optional multi-select prompt (featuring in MMSRL reports, where object restriction is required) allows the user to restrict the report to selected universe objects. The LOV will list the set of Objects available in all universes in the selected Environments. Its LOV cascades from the Environments prompt so if no Environments are selected then no LOV entries will be listed.

UniverseCUIDs

This optional multi-select prompt allows this report to be run as a hyperlinked child report, where universes of interest can be passed straight in by the parent report (via UniverseCUID), as such no LOV is provided and this prompt can be ignored in regular "Refresh on Open" use.

Input Controls

Input_Control_Example

Prompt Selection

Allows the user to reveal / hide the display of the Prompt Selection (can also include Input Control Selection too).

"Spaced" option

The default "Spaced" option reveals the Prompt Selection (below the report header), but also reformats lists to be more readable by adding a space between listed items.

"Show" option

The alternative "Show" option reveals the Prompt Selection (below the report header), without reformatting lists with a space between listed items.

"Hide" option

The "Hide" option hides the Prompt Selection.

Environment / CMSID

Allows the user to switch the display of Environment (within the report) between CMSID and CMS display name (as configured in MetaMiner Administrator).

Warning

Although this Input Control switches the display within the report's results, it does not affect what is listed in the Environment input control, which always lists CMSID. The same is true for the Environments prompt (during prompt selection) and the display of Environments (within the prompt selection block).

Expand?

Allows the user to switch the display (of certain verbose fields) to Expand multi row results or abbreviate multi row results to a single row.

Environment

Allows the user to filter the report results to a selected CMSID.

Warning

Although this Input Control is named Environment, it always works on CMSID regardless of the prior Environment / CMSID selection.

Uni Folder

Allows the user to filter the report results to the selected Uni Folder.

Universe

Allows the user to filter the report results to the selected Universe.

Class

Allows the user to filter the report results to the selected Class.

Class is Hidden?

Allows the user to filter the report results dependant on whether the Class is Hidden?.

Object

Allows the user to filter the report results to the selected Object.

Object is Hidden?

Allows the user to filter the report results dependant on whether the Object is Hidden?.
