Tree and Filters

Reference for the filter pane of the Power BI Explorer: every section, what it filters and how sections combine.

How filters combine

All sections apply together with the quick search box: an item is shown only when it passes every active section. Parent rows of matching items stay visible. Each section with an active filter shows a reset button in its title bar; View > Reset All Filters (Ctrl+R) clears them all. See Filters and Search.

Filter sections

Section What it filters
Environments Which loaded Power BI environments are shown
Workspaces Which workspaces are shown; see Workspace options
Item Types Item kinds to show: All, Report, Dashboard, Dataset (semantic model), Datasource, App, Dataflow
Created Items created in a date range
Updated Items last modified in a date range
Owners Items owned or configured by the selected people
File Size Items whose size is in the selected range. The range shows as Range: with the lower and upper size
Datasource Types Items that use data sources of the selected types. The list shows the types found in your tenant
Data Sources Items that use the selected data sources
Capacities Workspaces on the selected capacities, and their content

Fabric items are not listed in Item Types. To focus on them, use quick search on the item name or filter by workspace.

Workspace options

The Workspaces section has a workspace chooser and four check boxes:

Option Effect
Hide empty workspaces Hides workspaces with no items
Show only empty workspaces Shows only workspaces with no items, for example to find workspaces to clean up
Show only workspaces Shows workspace rows without their content
Hide personal workspaces Hides the Personal Workspaces group

The check boxes are independent of the workspace chooser; resetting the chooser does not clear them.
