Database Console

Open a browser-based SQL console on the MetaMiner Database (MMDB) directly from MMA, without installing a separate database tool.

Before you begin

  • MMA is running on the MetaMiner Server machine.
  • Active DB Type is Postgres (embedded) or Postgres.
  • The console is installed with MetaMiner. If it is missing, MMA hides the console controls.

Steps

  1. In the MMA main window, click Configure MMDB.
  2. Optional: check Read-only to reject INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE and DDL statements (SELECT only).
  3. Click DB Console.
  4. Your default browser opens the MetaMiner DB Console on the connection shown in the dialog, as currently typed.
  5. Browse tables, run queries and export results. Power BI data is in the pbi schema, dashboard rollups in silver.

Example: workspaces per environment
SELECT env_id, count(*) AS workspaces
FROM pbi.workspaces
WHERE is_deleted = false
GROUP BY env_id;

How it works

  • The console listens on the local machine only (127.0.0.1), on a free local port. Other computers cannot reach it.
  • It uses the connection and account from the Configure MMDB dialog.
  • It works while the MetaMiner services are running.
  • One console runs per MMA window. It stops when you close MMA.

Prefer Read-only

Without Read-only, the console can change or delete MetaMiner data. Use Read-only unless Infolytik Support asks you to change data.

Heavy queries

Queries on large tables such as pbi.activity_events compete with collection for database resources. Filter by date and run them outside busy hours.

Troubleshooting

Could not open the MetaMiner DB Console

Check admin.log for the reason, for example no free local port or a database connection error. Verify the connection with Re-check in the same dialog.
