Security Diff

The Security Diff application tab in MetaMiner Client is a tool for comparing SAP security settings across one or more folders for one or more environments. Without this tool it can be a tedious, error-prone task. The Security Diff tab provides interface to compare multiple settings altogether, not step by step, which can dramatically speed up your work. Security Diff tab is a fast, safe solution:

Tip
Those SAP security settings have nothing to do with security settings configured in your databases, operating systems, domains, and/or local networks. Be aware they can interfere.

What it is?	The Security Diff tab provides dual-tree visualization for comparing security setting across users and groups for any given objects and folders. It is similar to the Explore Security - Selection and Children feature in CMS Explorer, but opens security settings for two folders simultaneously.
Why you might use it?	To ensure that folders and objects in different locations (same or different CMS) are being correctly secured. Particularly useful when migration from XI3 to BI4.

Tip
The Security Diff tab updates its Content Area independently from the Reload button. When you run it, it access the CMS Server directly, in real-time.

Security Diff UI

The Security Diff tab UI has two absolutely different states:

•	Initial View, where you select targets to compare, and

•	Difference Visualization View, where you browse differences between targets.

How It Works

When we first come across this tab, we simply see a tree of folders for all environments (Initial View). To compare security, simply drag and drop a folder onto the drop targets; MetaMiner Client automatically presents a realtime view of security for the complete folder tree across all users and groups (Difference Visualization View).

Complete the following steps:

1.	Open the Security Diff tab. The Initial View opens.

2.	Using the toolbar and the Tree View , find and select the first sub-tree to compare security settings.

3.	Drag-and-drop it to the Left Target area .

4.	Select another sub-tree in the Tree View. Drag-and-drop it to the Right Target area . MetaMiner starts analysis. When complete, the Difference Visualization View opens which shows security differences between the selected structures.
